Description
The ASUS Tinker Edge R is a single-board computer (SBC) designed for AI applications. It features a Rockchip NPU, which is a machine learning (ML) accelerator that improves processing efficiency and reduces power consumption, making it easier to create connected devices and smart applications. The Tinker Edge R can perform 3 tera-operations per second (TOPS) with low power usage. It's optimized for neural networks, allowing it to support various ML frameworks and easily run common ML models.
Most SBC motherboards provide only a 15-watt (5V 3A) power supply, which can lead to instability when multiple devices are connected. Some SBCs reduce I/O port performance due to their power design. The Tinker Edge R features a unique power design that, with its dual power supply (DC and pin header), delivers up to 65 watts. This ensures stable operation and full I/O performance, even with several devices connected. Additionally, it has an exclusive power protection feature that activates automatically if there are significant changes in current or voltage, safeguarding the board and all connected devices.
The ASUS Tinker Edge R offers a versatile I/O interface with one MIPI-DSI connection for displays and touch screens, and two MIPI-CSI connections for compatible cameras, enabling computer vision applications like depth measurement, smart vending machines, and interactive advertising.
Designed with developers in mind, it includes features that enhance the experience for both beginners and experienced builders. The Tinker Edge R also includes a full-size HDMI port, USB Type-A, USB Type-C, gigabit LAN, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth for connectivity, along with a mini PCI Express® slot for a 4G/LTE extension card.
