Clean support surfaces for PLA and PETG

Bambu Lab Support for PLA/PETG is a dedicated support material for prints made from PLA or PETG. It is not used as a normal model material, but specifically for the contact interface between support and part. This makes support structures easier to remove and helps keep surfaces cleaner on overhangs and complex areas.

Support interface instead of full support material

The material is intended for support or raft interface layers. The main support structure can still be printed from PLA or PETG, while Support for PLA/PETG is only used at the contact zone to the part. This saves support material, improves surface finish and reduces the risk of damaging details while removing supports.

On complex models, overhangs or flat underside areas, normal support material can leave visible marks. Support for PLA/PETG is used exactly where support and model meet. This creates smoother contact areas, makes supports easier to remove and reduces the risk of broken edges or damaged details.

Use as Support/Raft Interface in the slicer

In Bambu Studio or compatible slicers, select the material as “Support for PLA/PETG” for “Support/Raft Interface”. It is not intended for printing the complete support structure or a standalone model. For tree supports, the material should not be used for the support base, but only for the contact interface.

Printing Notes

For best results, Support for PLA/PETG should only be used as a support or raft interface material. The support base can remain printed from the main model material. When using tree supports, do not use the support material for the support base. For clean contact areas, interface spacing and Z distance can be set very tightly, while final tuning depends on the model, material and desired removability.

Typical Applications

Bambu Support for PLA/PETG is suitable for models with difficult overhangs, cavities, internal geometries or visible undersides. It is especially useful when the supported contact area remains visible or should require as little post-processing as possible.

Support for PLA/PETG is especially useful when normal supports leave too many visible marks or when support removal should be cleaner and safer.

Usage note

This material is not water-soluble and does not replace PVA/BVOH for soluble support structures. It is a breakaway interface material for PLA and PETG. For other model materials such as ABS, ASA, PA or PET-CF, choose a suitable dedicated support material.
