Water-soluble support filament for complex 3D printed models, hard-to-reach support structures and clean underside surfaces – ideal for PLA and PETG prints with delicate geometries, internal cavities and overhangs.

Water-soluble support for complex models

Bambu Lab PVA is a water-soluble support material for multi-material 3D printing. It enables dense support interfaces, clean underside surfaces and support structures in areas that would be difficult to access mechanically after printing. After printing, the part is placed in water so the PVA support material dissolves and the model can be finished without breaking supports out manually.

Important: PVA must be printed very dry

PVA is highly moisture-sensitive. For reliable results, the filament should be dried before printing, kept as dry as possible during printing and stored airtight with desiccant after use. Wet PVA can cause stringing, bubbling, poor surface quality, inconsistent extrusion and weak support performance.

PVA compatibility: For PLA & PETG – use Xioneer VXL 111A for engineering plastics

Bambu Lab PVA is primarily suitable as a water-soluble support material for PLA and PETG prints. For other materials, adhesion and release behavior should be tested first. For engineering plastics such as ABS, ASA, PA, PC, TPU, PPS, PEEK or PEKK, PVA is usually not the right choice.

For soluble support structures with additional engineering plastics, we recommend Xioneer VXL 111A. This support material is not soluble in pure water, but is removed using Xioneer VXL EX or VXL solve in a mild alkaline solution and is much better suited for demanding engineering materials.

Printing Recommendation

PVA should always be printed dry and fully dissolved from the model after printing. Dissolving time depends on support volume, model geometry, water temperature, water movement and accessibility of the support structure. For engineering plastics or heated build chambers, PVA is usually not the best solution; a suitable soluble engineering support material such as Xioneer VXL 111A should be used instead.
