LIPSedge™ DL – Versatile ToF 3D Camera with USB Plug & Play
The LIPSedge™ DL is a versatile and ready-to-use ToF 3D camera for real-time capture of 2D and 3D data. The combination of Time-of-Flight technology, high-resolution depth sensing, and RGB camera makes the DL a flexible solution for applications in Machine Vision, Gaming, Entertainment, Medicine, and Motion Analysis.
The camera captures depth data over a range of 0.2 to 4 meters and achieves a typical Z-accuracy of up to 1%. The USB 3.0 Micro-B interface allows the LIPSedge™ DL to be directly connected to a Windows or Linux system.
Time-of-Flight for Short to Medium Distances
The LIPSedge™ DL utilizes Time-of-Flight (ToF) to determine distances based on the phase shift of reflected infrared light. The technology is particularly suitable for applications where people and objects need to be reliably and contactlessly captured from short to medium distances.
The capture range is divided into two operating modes: the Near Mode covers approximately 0.2 to 1.0 m, while the Normal Mode is designed for distances of 1 to 4 m.
Precise 3D Depth Capture
The depth camera offers a resolution of up to 640 × 480 pixels at 30 fps. With a field of view of 74.2° × 58.1° × 88°, the DL enables wide spatial capture. Depth data is output in 16-bit format.
Integrated RGB Camera
In addition to depth data, the LIPSedge™ DL also provides high-resolution RGB image data at 1920 × 1080 pixels at 30 fps. This allows color information and depth data to be combined for 3D analysis, Machine Vision, and interactive applications.
Edge-Emitting Laser for Wide Coverage
The active depth sensing is carried out using two edge-emitting lasers with a wavelength of 850 nm. This technology supports wide and uniform illumination of the capture area, providing reliable depth data for various applications.
Ideal for Gaming, Gestures, and Motion Analysis
With its precise and fast 3D depth capture, the LIPSedge™ DL is particularly suitable for Gesture Recognition, Motion Tracking, and Body Skeleton Tracking. The contactless capture enables natural interactions and quick responses in gaming, entertainment, and interactive applications.
Reliable Depth Capture Under Various Lighting Conditions
The active ToF technology allows for the capture of 3D depth data in low light conditions as well as in brighter environments. This makes the LIPSedge™ DL suitable for various indoor scenarios.
USB 3.0 for Fast Data Transfer
With USB 3.0, RGB and depth data can be quickly transferred to the host system. The high bandwidth supports real-time applications and allows efficient processing of the captured data.
Plug & Play with UVC
The LIPSedge™ DL can be directly connected to a compatible Windows or Linux system via USB. Due to standardized UVC, straightforward integration is possible without the need for a complex proprietary interface for basic camera usage.
For custom applications, LIPS additionally provides an Open-Source SDK 2.0 with support for OpenNI and OpenCV. Developers can utilize the camera with C and C++. Additionally, ROS and ROS2 wrappers are available.
Persistent Connection
The LIPSedge™ DL supports a Persistent Connection. After a brief connection interruption of less than 15 seconds, the existing session can be maintained without fully restarting the system.
