ABS for strong and durable printed parts

SUNLU ABS is a technical standard filament for parts where higher heat resistance, impact resistance and everyday mechanical usability are more important than the especially easy processing of PLA. The material is suitable for housings, brackets, jigs, workshop parts, functional prototypes, basic automotive and mechanical applications, and parts that will be drilled, sanded, cut, painted or otherwise post-processed.

Strong, impact-resistant and more heat-resistant than PLA

ABS is especially useful when printed parts need to be tougher, more heat-resistant and easier to post-process than standard PLA prints. SUNLU ABS offers a good combination of strength, impact toughness, scratch resistance and dimensional stability. For best results, ABS should preferably be printed in an enclosed build chamber to reduce temperature differences, warping and cracking.

IMPORTANT FOR ABS

Enclosed build chamber for less warping

ABS is more sensitive to drafts and rapid temperature changes than PLA or PETG. For stable results, an enclosed printer or enclosure is recommended so that the part cools more evenly. This helps reduce warping, cracking and bed adhesion issues. The build plate should also be prepared correctly and a suitable adhesive can be used if needed.

Typical Applications

SUNLU ABS is suitable for parts where robust material properties, heat resistance, post-processing and everyday usability should be combined. For permanent UV and outdoor use, ASA is often the better choice; for especially high mechanical or thermal requirements, PC, PC-ABS, PA or fiber-filled engineering filaments should be considered.

With an enclosed build chamber, suitable bed adhesion and dry storage, the filament is well suited for technical prototypes, housings, workshop parts and functional components.

Note on ABS

ABS should preferably be printed in a well-controlled, enclosed build chamber. Odors and fumes may occur during printing, so suitable ventilation or filtration is recommended. For large parts, sharp corners or very flat parts, brim, adhesive, chamber temperature and part orientation should be tuned carefully.
